The Smith Family | Mill Hollow | Vermilion, Ohio

Well, Hello 2025! Who besides me can’t believe we are already four months into the new year! I’ve fallen a bit behind on my blogging and am hoping to catch up just a bit before shooting season starts in just a few shorts weeks! Last year, I was blessed to photograph so many sweet families, and I loved every minute! Some sessions were multi-generational with matriarchs and patriarchs in their 90’s, while some were nuclear families with young little ones bursting with energy. All were wonderful and unique.

As you may know, one of my favorite locations for photography sessions is Mill Hollow, a gorgeous Lorain County Metropark located in Vermilion, Ohio. I’m fairly certain I visited there at least a half dozen times between families and seniors within a two-week timespan and the scenery never disappoints, especially in the beautiful Autumn season!

This time around, it was a session for a family of four. Let me tell you a bit about the Smith Family:

Brittany contacted me saying “We are a Jesus loving, family focused, find-joy-in-the-crazy kind of bunch. My husband and I are high school sweethearts together for almost 20 years; we are blessed with 2 amazing spirited young boys. We are looking to capture a moment in time of how we are and how we play now.”  Of course, I adored her description of her family and LOVE STORY!

When Brittany commented that her boys were spirited, she wasn’t kidding! These two adorable boys gave me so much energy to work with, I was smiling the entire session. (NOTE: I always wonder why little ones need so much energy? Can I have some, please?) We even spotted a few white-tailed deer while hiking through the park, which the boys loved!

I find it heart-warming, ironic and wonderful that I get to walk away from serving a family by documenting their love AND experience it, too, leaving with a smiling face and contented heart. I believe you will feel the love, also, as you browse through their images!
