The Foote Family | Mill Hollow | Vermilion, Ohio

Each year, my calendar is  jam packed the last week of October through the first week of November as clients want to be photographed against the beautiful backdrop of the fall colors in Ohio! Some years I am travelling to Mill Hollow, a gorgeous Lorain County Metropark located in Vermilion, Ohio, several times in one week to do just that! This trip, we had the honor of meeting and photographing the Foote Family: Zoe, Evan and Kennedy.

Zoe contacted me back in July of 2023 to schedule a family session during a specific week in October because her husband would be stateside as he was serving overseas in the military. She shared that he had been away since January which meant he was not only away from her, but from their little baby girl. Boy, did this tug at my heart strings! So of course, I marked out my schedule for the entire week he would be home so we would be sure to optimize our chances of getting in the session.

Fast forward to October, and Mother Nature delivered a perfect day for their session (gotta give her props when it is earned!). The fall colors were at their peak and provided a spectacular  display of golden tones. Zoe had chosen her family’s wardrobe in neutral colors that coordinated wonderfully with the location. This family was very sweet, obviously so in love with each other and soaking up every moment of their togetherness. Little Kennedy (who shares her mama’s piercing blue eyes ) was a little bit shy during the session but loved when mom and dad tickled her, producing her darling and engaging smile.

While I am always honored to photograph my clients’ love stories, this one deeply touched my heart. It showed me in a very clear way what our servicemen and women sacrifice to protect and serve our country.  Evan’s service took him half way across the world during Kennedy’s precious young life that we all know goes all too quickly. I was happy to hear that Evan would be coming home to be with his girls in January of 2024. I was also elated to hear that Zoe would be decorating the walls of their new home with images from their session. Ted and I left with a full heart of appreciation and love…it doesn’t get much better than that!

Here are a few selections from this chapter of Zoe and Evan’s LOVE STORY with their absolutely adorable little girl. As we all go about our daily lives, let’s try and remember to show our gratitude to those who serve our great country! Thank you, Evan, for your service. Enjoy their session!
