COME ALONG on a SURPRISE PROPOSAL!

Anyone who believes that photographers “just” take pictures is wrong! I’m here to tell you that we wear many hats, from planning, organizing, scouting, encouraging, posing, building confidence, editing, and to today’s blog, helping to plan surprise proposals! When Nathan contacted me to help document his proposal to his sweetheart, Jessica, my brain went into planning mode.

Nathan, who is from the UK, was not familiar with the area, so I was able to guide him on locations that would work for his idea of proposing after a walk one of the many beaches along Lake Erie in Huron, Ohio. Well, all you Ohioans know that March in Ohio is a total crapshoot on weather! (In fact, when we met to review the area I selected, there were huge mounds of snow along the shoreline!) We selected a location, and I told him where to stop along his beach walk to pop the question, while I hid behind a nearby tree (see below!).

Nathan did a terrific job of laying the groundwork for his proposal plan, and when the day came, everything went perfectly according to plan, (including a very UNrainy day from Mother Nature and no snow!). And the biggest win was…SHE SAID YES!
