The Hall Family Multi-Generational Session | On the Beach | Huron, Ohio

The beaches along Lake Erie located in Huron are a very popular destination for many of my photography sessions…from local graduating seniors to families coming from various parts of the country to experience Huron’s small town charm, the beach is where they want their session to take place! So, the beach it is!

This particular beach session was a multi-generational shoot (one of my specialties!) with 21 family members coming from Michigan for a special celebration!

Karen sent me a message through my website stating, “I want to capture the family that my husband and I created! I would love a huge family portrait in my family room to walk past and smile at everyday. My husband and I are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary this summer! We are meeting our 3 girls and their families in Ohio at a vacation rental to celebrate. It’s rare to have our whole family together so I would love some family pictures. My daughter found your website and we love your work!” (I am always so humbled when I hear compliments like this!)

What more could a LOVE STORY photographer ask for? AND, I found out after speaking with Karen that she wanted me to recreate a photo that had been taken of her family members on the beach several years back. I gladly agreed, as I am always up for a challenge! (Scroll through the images to find the image we took framed and hanging on her stairwell walls at an impressive 72″ long!) (Yes, I typed that correctly…a six-foot long canvas!)

The Recreated Image

It was quite a challenge to line up 21 people along the lake in one consecutive line and fit everyone in the frame! The family lined up in a similar way based on the image we were copying; then it was my turn to take probably around 100 images to make sure everyone was smiling and had their eyes open! It was quite a windy evening as well, so the ladies had to contend with their hair getting in their faces….but, we did it!!

This first picture is the recreated image that Karen requested, followed by the finished results hanging in her home for her to smile at, just like she requested! The finished artwork is a massive canvas , measuring 72″ by 29″, framed in silver chrome (and I just LOVE it so much!). Karen texted me that when the delivery person pulled up in her driveway, she was so excited to see it that she decided to be late for work so she could take a peek! Now, that’s my kinda gal!!
