When Cassie’s father contacted me a few years back to say he was sure an engagement was in Cassie’s near future and that she had always said she wanted me to photograph her wedding even BEFORE she was engaged, my heart was overjoyed. Having photographed her as a high school senior along with her two brothers, I was familiar with this kind and oh-so-talented family. When I received the call that Avery had “popped the question”, I was both honored and excited to be invited to document this very special chapter of their LOVE STORY. (See my blog on the beauty of repeat clients!)
Cassie and Avery included several unique personal touches in their day. During their first look and portrait time, I noticed that they did not kiss (kissing only each other’s hands or foreheads), saving their first kiss of the day for when they were pronounced husband and wife. (Isn’t that so sweet?) One of the most unique features of their wedding ceremony which I have not seen during my 12 years of photographing was a hand washing ceremony. It was a beautiful moment to observe and photograph.
And now on to MUSIC!! Anyone who knows Cassie’s family knows they are all VERY talented musicians, so I knew that music would play a integral part in their wedding day. As a music lover myself, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute! Cassie’s brothers sang a lovely duet and played the guitar during the hand washing ritual, and brother Josh serenaded the couple during their first dance with a beautiful John Denver ballad. Cassie then surprised her father during their special dance with a recorded song of her singing “Dads and Daughters” (no dry eyes there!); Townline 26, a family band, complete with an awesome fiddle playing daughter, provided the music for their reception (the crowd went wild for ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia” fiddle solo!). The evening ended with a private dance amongst the twinkling lights of the Palm Tree, just prior to exiting the reception to guests waving sparklers as the they happily hopped into a vintage 1967 Chevy truck and rode off to begin their lives as husband and wife!
Avery and Cassie certainly took the advice I give all my couples: Make your day your own! Enjoy some of my favorites from their day below, and big hugs and congratulations to Cassie and Avery! Thank you for letting me be a part of your LOVE STORY!
Thanks for reading, friends!
