What’s better than a surprise best friend photo session on your birthday?
Who doesn’t love surprises on their birthday? I know I do! And that is just what Carla received from her eight best friends as she celebrated a wonderful milestone birthday!
I arrived at Carla’s home located right across from the world famous Cedar Point Amusement Park along Lake Erie on a VERY windy day to surprise Carla with a best friend photo shoot! I wasn’t exactly sure what I would be walking in to that afternoon, but it turned out to be a group of very lovely, fun-loving best friends!
Anyone who lives near or around the Lake knows that the closer you are to it, the windier it gets, and boy, was it windy! The plan to photograph the ladies outside was replaced with capturing them inside of Carla’s gorgeous home, where we visited a room that contained her childhood boat, a spiral staircase and a grand piano, all which served as excellent backdrops for some fun images!
Since Carla loves the beach, the ladies decided that those images would be last since the winds were so strong (a very good idea as you will see below!) The ladies also wanted to recreate a particular image from several years back on the back porch of the house. FUN!!
Sorry about this, fellas, but girls only events hold their own special “vibe”…all those shared funny memories, giggling, and sharing the company of long time girlfriends is simply the best (says this gal photographer!). When I saw the grand piano, I asked Carla, “Do you think you could lay on top of it?” She was actually quite shy, but with the encouragement of her gal tribe, she climbed up, I put her in a little “pose” and the gals rallied around her. Simple fun!
I am always going to be a huge supporter of giving the gift of images and this mini event fits right in with how special that gift can be. Hopefully, the ladies will gather again in another 10 or 20 years and once again recreate some poses from their wonderful weekend together celebrating friendship!
So, if you are ever out of ideas for a friend’s birthday, a best friend photo shoot is an excellent idea! Take a look at all those smiles we captured on Carla’s special day! Happy Birthday!
